2011 AJN Book of the Year

I can finally happily announce that I won an American Journal of Nursing 2011 Book of the Year Award. I found out a little while ago, but had to keep it a secret. Not a bad way to end off the year, and a great start to 2012. I know my book will never make the New York Time's best seller list or Oprah's book club, but I'm proud of it. There are many other big names on the Book of the Year (BOTY or as I like to say booty) list this year so it is an absolute honour to make it.
For each book they provide a short description. I kind of chuckled when mine listed "Is a quick read" as a part of the summary of the book. Given that I'm a recent graduate student and fairly new to the profession I think I'm okay with that. My experience and the evidence in the field is still growing. It will be exciting to see where it all heads in the future. Perhaps the next time I make a list like this the description might say 'a worth while read'.

Thank you again to all the people who have supported and encouraged me. I could never imagine that writing a book would be something I could do, let alone wining an award for it. To my mentors I hope you can see some of the lessons you have taught me in what I do. To my friends thank you for having my back no matter how busy I sometimes seem to get, you all inspire me and encourage me to live a passionate and exciting life. To my family, thank you for providing my values and helping me do everything I have so far.

I remember when we talked about this, now I’m proud of what you’ve done; glad to have made a very short contribution to the book.
Best,

Congratulations!
Now if we can persuade every library and every hospital in the Anglophone world to buy a copy you’ll be able to retire before you’re 65!
All the best!
PS What will your next book be?
